Deptford Neighbourhood Plan

Public Consultation

Reg 14 Consultation, October 2019

Producing a Neighbourhood Plan is a right for communities introduced through the Localism Act 2011.

Deptford Neighbourhood Action (DNA) became a designated neighbourhood forum in February 2016, and since that time we have been seeking your views on what should be included within the Deptford Neighbourhood Plan (NPlan).

Along the way we have been taking your comments, ideas, & opinions into creating it. We have held public meetings, attended other community group events and meetings, Local Assembly meetings and have had specialist work carried out by consultants to:

  • enable local people to affect the design of Convoys Wharf, called a Design Code, Deptford Design Code can be viewed here.
  • come up with small social housing in-fill site ideas
  • write up a Character and Heritage survey to persuade the Council to list important heritage within the DNA NPlan Area.

From our detailed work with 5 issue based groups:

  • Housing
  • Health & well-being
  • Local Economy
  • Green and Open Spaces
  • Heritage

Additional work on making Deptford a Child Friendly Neighbourhood, including input from Lewisham Council’s Planning team, we are now in a position to publish the Pre-Submission DNA Neighbourhood Plan, known as Regulation 14 under the 2011 Localism Act.

Once again, we are seeking your views to influence the Plan. We need your support for the draft policies and project ideas to ensure, that as this will be a Neighbourhood Plan that will run for 15 years, that it contains the best policies for the benefit of everyone who lives/works in Deptford.

We would be very grateful if you to let us have your views by either reviewing the full version of the draft plan which is attached, or reading the summary booklet, which will enable you to complete a short tick a box survey online – there is also a place for comments where you can add any suggestions/ideas/opinions.

Click here to go to the survey.

This Draft Neighbourhood Plan is out for consultation and can be downloaded here.  WE NEED TO GET APPROX 200 RESPONSES TO THIS SURVEY IN ORDER TO PROGRESS THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN ONTO THE NEXT STAGE.

A printed copy of the Draft Neighbourhood Plan is available to view as part of the DNA Neighbourhood Forum exhibition at the Pepys Resource Centre open most days from 10.00 am – where you can also get assistance to complete the on-line survey.

There are also paper copies of the Survey which can be completed and handed in at the Pepys Resource Centre and printed leaflets and summary booklets available to take away.

This is our opportunity to shape the future of Deptford, so please feel free to share this link and survey with others living, working or volunteering in Deptford. Thank you for your support.

Yours faithfully,
Joyce Jacca, Chair of DNA Steering Group and The DNA team

Revised Reg 16 coming soon. Thank you to everybody for your feedback on Reg 14.

Design Codes for Better Connections with Convoys Wharf

As a result of the Mayor of Lewisham’s decision at the Mayor and Cabinet meeting on 17 February 2016, the DNA Neighbourhood Forum was authorised to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan for the DNA neighbourhood area, which falls within the administrative boundaries of Lewisham.

In July 2018 ARU were commissioned by Locality to produce a set of Design Codes to support Deptford Neighbourhood Action’s Neighbourhood Plan.
